I am so suggestible lately. I look at pictures on I Can Has Cheezburger and I find myself thinking, "Hey, a cheeseburger! What a great idea!" Or I read a story in which somebody makes someone else a chocolate cake, and I can barely focus on the plot because I'm thinking "Mmmm, chocolate caaaaake" and wondering if we have the ingredients in the house. Technically this is when I'm supposed to start experiencing food cravings, and I'm not sure if these qualify; I never feel like I *must* have the food in question. More that it suddenly seems like a really, REALLY good idea to have the food in question. Even though it probably isn't. (We actually went out for cheeseburgers yesterday, and I felt kind of sick afterward.)

Bodies are weird.

Hey! I have cupcakes at my house. Chocolate cupcakes.

Uh, is that an invitation? (Really, I should just make some cupcakes of my own. Because damn, those sound good right now.)

By now, they are all gone, I think. But so easy! Cake mix, frosting and a muffin tin and you are good to go! :)

You could come over and I'd *make* you more cupcakes. We have sprinkles too.

You're so sweet. (Lots of people are, really. I was not expecting so many offers of cake when I made this post. That's something to remember, really: put it out there that one needs chocolate cake, and this group of friends totally comes through.) Cake mix is clearly something I need to pick up next time I get groceries.

Hee! If you want to be tempted by even more foodstuffs, this is a cute SPN story about Dean taking home ec that requires absolutely no canon knowledge to appreciate, and is very cute: http://trollprincess.livejournal.com/1086261.html

That is a cute story! Though I'm somewhat relieved that it didn't make me crave some of the foods it described. I've never liked shrimp, for example, so developing a sudden yen for it would kind of freak me out.

Chocolate cake? There's a recipe I've been wanting to try... :-)

Speaking of which, I haven't seen you guys in awhile. I'd like to fix that, some way that sounds good to you, in the next couple weeks maybe, if you're up for it?

Have I mentioned lately that you are awesome?

And it would be great to see you. I'm about to leave town for a few days, but I'll get back Monday, and then I have no plans for the rest of the week. Assuming I'll need a day or two to sleep and recuperate from my travels, would you want to do something some evening later on? Pretty much anytime from Wednesday forward works for me.

Love to. Wednesday is layout day, so I never know when I'll get out. How's Friday? I can usually leave early (to make up for Wednesday). Here or there or anywhere in between... and if you haven't been buried in chocolate cupcakes by then, I can make dessert. ;-)

Friday sounds fantastic: it's a date. Maybe we could go to one of Pittsfield's many interesting restaurants for dinner, and then retire to your place for dessert?

Sounds great! *rubs hands. gets out cookbooks.* I'll be free any time after 4. Which ones are Pittsfield's interesting restaurants? :-)

I've been exceptionally interested in meat lately (my body craves protein, I assume), so what about the Brazilian place? Have you been there before?

I chewed ice for the last three months of my pregnancy ... that was my only craving. Never did it before; haven't done it since. Weird. (Lo-cal and hydrating, but bad for the tooth enamel. *g*)

Frank likes to chew ice. This time of year, one of his favorite things is when we break an icicle off the side of the house and toss it to him: munchmunchmunch.

I, on the other hand, find my teeth hurting when I even contemplate chewing ice, and always have.

I never had cravings, per se, though I did stop eating chocolate for a month or two. It was just suddenly.... unappealing. And then, just as suddenly, tasted good again.

I had a friend who kept peeled oranges on her bedside table at night during her pregnancy, and she would wake up in the middle of the night and eat them. She just couldn't get enough.

One of my sisters went through a month or so where she NEEDED a hamburger every day. I remember walking down a street with her and she suddenly disappeared, having ducked into a McDonald's while I wasn't looking. The same sister, interestingly, in her second pregnancy had this ecstatic love for tropical fruits; she'd call me in the middle of the day to say that she was eating the best mango on the planet and she just had to tell somebody.

I craved fruit. My sense of smell got really strong and I would wander the produce department sniffing in ecstasy.

So far the only smell issue I've had is that I have to hold my breath while feeding the dog, because his food STINKS. I think I'd prefer happy fruit smells.

When pregnant, I had an overpowering, all-consuming desire for Mexican food. Too bad I'm deathly allergic to peppers.

But largely my cravings fell into the easily distracted by food I waaaaaaant now I can't stop thinking about waaaaaant category, with the exception of Dean and Deluca's cobb salad no egg extra avocado. I ate that 4 times a week for about 3 months.

The need for meat has been kind of astounding lately. In restaurants, I take note of the items I'd generally gravitate towards (fish tacos, various salads, etc.) and yet feel compelled to order a burger. One of the pregnancy websites mentioned that it's important to get lots of protein and iron around now, and my only response was "GEE, YA THINK?" Because my body seems to have figured that out already.

I came home from the grocery store around month 5, having finally gotten to the point where for a narrow window each day I could stand the olfactory onslaught of there, and Jerry gently informed me that maybe I should have considered buy milk. Coffee. Bread. Instead, I had come home with 3 packages of steaks-for-2, 2 chuck roasts, beef for marinading and grilling, about 10 pounds of ground beef in 2 pound packages, and 6 bags of prewashed spinach. I am still living it down.
