Time's arrow
Mar. 11th, 2007 12:30 pmI'd heard that Daylight Savings Time would change this weekend, but this morning my computer -- which usually adjusts its clock all by itself for these things -- showed the same (unchanged) time as every other clock in the house. So I went to the US government clock website (www.time.gov) to see if the time really had changed or if I'd gotten the dates wrong. After selecting my time zone, I was informed by a very officious-looking graphic that "The official U.S. time is: [JAVASCRIPT ERROR]."
Reloading the page got me the information I'd wanted (and for those of you who missed it, we were indeed supposed to set our clocks forward an hour), but I'm now wishing I'd had the presence of mind -- not to mention the skillz -- to take a screenshot before I reloaded. Because it would have made a better blog post than this one, and I wouldn't have had to add any commentary at all. I'd have titled the post, "And THIS is why I'm worried about voting machines" and left it at that.
The term esprit de l'escalier really needs an updating, to cover situations like these.
