birthdate meme
Apr. 6th, 2006 07:00 pmI'm in pre-vacation mode; we go away in a week, and day by day it gets harder to concentrate on work, etc., because I can't keep my brain from sliding off to where we're headed.
With that in mind, I'm borrowing
kcobweb's birthdate meme, on the theory that even if I'm not getting much else done, I will at least have learned a few interesting factoids today.
Go to Wikipedia and look up your birth day (excluding the year). List three neat facts, two births and one death in your journal, including the year.
1661 - Oliver Cromwell, Lord Protector of the Commonwealth of England, is formally executed -- after having been dead for two years.
1969 - The Beatles' last public performance, on the roof of Apple Records in London. The impromptu concert is broken up by the police.
2003 - Belgium legally recognizes same-sex marriage.
Births:
1937 - Boris Spassky, Russian chess player
1962 - King Abdullah II of Jordan
Death: (Apparently my birthday has been a popular date for executions and assassinations. How auspicious. I'm just going to overlook those and choose something innocuous.)
1836 - Betsy Ross, American seamstress (b. 1752)
